Our Santa Maria Pickleball Club enjoyed a Fiesta lunch on Jan. 12, 2022, to celebrate the club’s one-year anniversary of the opening of the city’s six new courts at Hagerman Sports Complex. Club member Olivia Bolanos coordinated the happy event with decorations, and burritos from Carniceria Su Mesa plus chips and salsa for about 55 players.

Club president Terry Armas led an official ribbon cutting, which the club was unable to do last year due to Covid. The club presented Terry a certificate of “Appreciation and Achievement” with a lifetime club membership, along with a gift certificate from Pickleball Central and a generous gift basket from Walter and Gayle Linn. The Linns also presented Elise Cassel, club secretary-treasurer, with a thank-you bottle of wine from Peacock Cellars in Paso.

Barb Wilson and Herb Adams teamed up to provide some background vocals and guitar playing. Club members enjoyed the food and ambiance and were grateful for the good company and always-splendid Santa Maria weather.
